Administrative Unit Vrhnika – 1255 students

Municipalities: Borovnica, Log Dragomer, Vrhnika

KVŠ beginnings date back to 1999, when the present club replaced the Youth Center Vrhinka. The visual design of the club is the result of the diplomas of two young architects, who subsequently proposed several urban solutions in Vrhnika. On the establishment of KVŠ a local theater group “Dejmo stisn’t teater” greatly influenced. The group is also responsible for the festival “Cankarjada”, which has made a successful start also by the hel of the student club. The club also provided important support to bands “Racija”, “Hit et nunc” and “Minusi”,

Throughout the decade, the club has managed to form a rich cultural and sports program. Today the club has regular cycles of year-round concerts. It organizes children's holiday workshops, hours of recreation, different courses, art and photographic exhibitions, jam sessions, theater performances, a variety of tours, travelogues and educational lectures and offers students a variety of benefits.

In KVŠ they encourage the development of young artistic potential. Every year they organize a public tender called “Odprti oder”. On this tender local not yet established bands can register. Commission composed of representatives of the club then chooses the best among the applicants, which are then presented on the “Zakonov koncertni oder”. With their performance the band gathers precious stage experience, which motivates them even more.

The traditional week-long theater festival “Cankarjada” (in 2012 it will be organized for the 17th year in a row) consists of street theater, improvisational theater, stand up theater and classical drama shows. In every year one (or two) concerts are held. All events at the festival are free. KVŠ’s best media covered event has also spread to neighboring places.
